Most people dread ageing and spend a fortune on anti ageing creams and lotions. But more than beauty products what affects our skin ,body and healthy the most is our everyday habits.
5 unhealthy habits that we should avoid ;
1. Lying down on the sides during our sleep ;
Most adults go to bed without paying attention to how they are positioned . sleeping positions have the strongest effects on the body especially when done consistently.
When one tends to sleep on the sides, it causes facial distortion leading to the formation of sleep wrinkles over time. Sleeping on the sides also causes creases on the face. Sleeping on the sides squashes your face into the pillow causing wrinkles and fine lines. The best way to sleep and get well reared is to sleep on the back.
2. Not using sunscreen regularly
Continuous exposure of the skin to the UV rays of the skin can be extremely damaging to the skin. It leads to age spots on the face and hands and other sun exposed areas. So one must make it a point to apply sunscreen regularly before stepping out in the sun.
Too much exposure to the sun can also cause certain types of skin cancers. So one must be liberal and regular with the application of sunscreen.
3. Sleep deprivation
A good 7 to 8 hours of sleep and rest is very vital to our body. Modern day lifestyle is very hectic and full of stress.
Watching too much television or playing games on mobile phones or too much screen time on laptops before going to bed makes the brain alert and can lead to sleep deprivation.
Continuous sleep deprivation leads to dark circles, dark spots and fine lines.This causes premature skin ageing and also decreases the ability of the skin to fight against the harmful rays of the sun. A good night’s rest is very essential for a healthy body and skin.
4. Lack of exercise
A brisk walk or a good workout helps to improve blood circulation in the body ,thus making the skin radiant . Studies and research have proved that people who exercise regularly age slowly and live a healthier and energetic life.
Even moderate exercises like yoga work wonders and are extremely beneficial to our health. Exercise also releases good hormones and makes one feel happier and healthier. Exercise causes us to sweat which opens the pores of our skin and de clogs them leaving the skin glowing and helps us to look younger.
5. Consumption of too much alcohol
Alcohol consumption increases the level of triglycerides in the body and also allows fine lines and wrinkles to appear at an early age. Alcohol also dehydrates the skin and also depletes it of vitamin A which is essential to keep our skin moist, firm and supple.
Alcohol thus makes the skin dry and lifeless making us look older than we actually are. Alcohol also leads to poor digestion and absorption of nutrients which causes premature ageing. So one must be wise and moderation is the key to everything in life.
A healthy lifestyle with moderate exercise and good habits can make us live longer and also look younger. A little discipline with healthy habits and diet choices can go a long way in keeping us in good shape and live longer with glowing skin and slow down the ageing process.
