5 Steps For A Healthy Morning Routine

Morning routines are one of the most important tools that can help us to achieve good health. Good habits when we wake up help us to stay  in good health throughout the day. When practised regularly these habits help us to detoxify our body and keep us energetic throughout the day. 

1-Oil pulling

Oil pulling has numerous benefits for our general well being. Oil pulling is an ayurvedic practice of swishing oil around your mouth first thing in the morning. It  not only benefits your oral health -in the form of reduced plaque in the mouth and a reduction in bacteria but also reduces systemic inflammation in the body.

Oil pulling needs to be done first thing in the morning before ingesting any food or liquids. A tablespoon of high quality oil like coconut oil should be put into the mouth and swished for around 10 to 15 minutes. It removes all the fat soluble toxins from the mouth. It also tones the facial muscles and keeps wrinkles away. 

2-Drinking 2 to 3 glasses of lukewarm water 

Keeping the body hydrated is extremely crucial for the optimum functioning of our bodies and mind. The water cleanses our internal organs and also helps to regulate bowel movements and flushes  out all the toxins from the body.

Water also increases energy levels and fights fatigue. A good start in the morning will kick start the metabolism and keep you in good health throughout the day. 

3-Exposure to morning rays of the sun

Getting bright light exposure as soon as possible after waking up is a powerful way to reset your circulation rhythm.

If the sun is up you should go outdoors or at least open your curtains and soak in the morning rays. Even a 10 minute exposure to the morning sun is enough to reap the benefits. 

4- Morning walks are extremely beneficial

Getting your body moving first thing in the morning is a great way to wake up. Movement gets your blood flowing. It causes you to increase your lung capacity by increasing the oxygen levels in the body.

 A morning walk increases our cognitive abilities ,increases the metabolic rate and improves sleep quality. It releases the happy hormones such as endorphins leading to increased feeling of happiness and well being. 

5- A good cup of coffee

Coffee is one of the healthiest foods in existence. It is full of antioxidants and other powerful compounds such as polyphenols making it a potent tool for improved health.

Coffee also improves your mood, workouts, memory and other metabolic activities. Coffee is also known to reduce the risk of diabetes and protect the liver. But one should not overdo it as moderation is the key  for a healthy body.


The morning routine sets the tone for your entire day and with a little planning a healthy routine isn’t difficult. There are several other routines such as meditating for a few minutes early in the morning  or grounding that involves walking barefoot on grass which are extremely beneficial .Including even a few of these practices will get you to start your day on the right note and to good health in the long run.
